Tasting Notes
Not opaque, while almost translucent, the deep blue, near black core blocks light, and still, it shimmers with vibrancy, to the cherry red edge. The nose of crushed berries is initially a little meaty, with smoky oak character and copious amount of perfume. As it opens in the glass the nose really comes forward with fresh raspberry, blackberry, nectarine, and apricot with hints of sassafras and allspice, and then, the blue plum jumps forward. The flavors do follow the nose. Beginning with berries and light stone fruit, then complemented by blue plum and very dark cherry with allspice, sassafras and other lovely exotic spices. This wine does not over-power. Its greatness and magnificent fruit discloses itself like a whisper or a kiss, in a sotto voce not a shout. It must be savored!
